About The Dehradun

The Dehradun is an independent travel guide to Dehradun, Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar and the rest of Uttarakhand, written from Dehradun by people who live here.

Who runs this site

The Dehradun is run by Aakash Puri, a Dehradun local. I started this blog in 2019 because most guides to Doon online were either outdated or written by people who had never been here. I wanted one place where a visitor, or someone new to the city, could find honest and practical information about the places we locals actually go to.

What you will find here

  • Guides to waterfalls, temples, treks and hill stations around Dehradun and across Uttarakhand
  • How-to-reach details by bus, train, cab and self-drive
  • Markets, malls, cafes and places to stay in Dehradun
  • Seasonal guides for festivals, monsoon, winter and snowfall trips

How we keep the information accurate

Timings, ticket prices and routes in the hills change often. Every guide on this site shows the date it was published or last updated, and we go back and refresh older guides regularly. If you spot something that is wrong or out of date, please write to us and we will correct it.

Advertising and independence

This website may show advertisements through Google AdSense to cover hosting and running costs. Ads do not influence what we write or recommend. We do not publish paid reviews, and any sponsored content, if we ever publish it, will be clearly labelled.
