The origins of Surkanda Mata Mandir tribute to goddess Lord Shiva wife sati who immolated herself in her father the great sacrifice when he embarrassed Shiva by not inviting the couple to the yajna. Enraged by the death of sati Shiva wanderer all over the reason and perform tandav dance of cosmic destruction. all gods feared but the heaven god’s requested Lord Vishnu to stop Shiva. then Lord Vishnu decided to destroy the purpose of sati and pieces of her body fell all over the reason throw the Sudarshana which are known as Shakti peeths.the Surkanda Devi Mandir stands tall where pragmatically Sati’s head fell.
