Establishment of Rajaji National Park :-

Rajaji National Park is a major national park and tiger reserve in India located near the Shivalik mountain range of the Himalayas in the state of Uttarakhand, India. The Rajaji National Park, rich in wildlife and botanical wealth, is spread over an area of 820 square kilometers in the three major districts of Uttarakhand, Dehradun, Pauri and Garhwal.

Rajaji Park is one of the major tourist destinations of Uttarakhand. Due to its magnificent ecosystem, this national park attracts a lot of tourists visiting here. This park is a center of attraction for tourists.
Spread over an area of 820 square kilometers, this national park is known for the population of elephants, 23 species of mammals and 315 species of birds are found in this national park.

This national park, spread over the plains of the Shivalik mountain range of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand, is a very spectacular and protected forest area. The holy river Ganges, flowing through the heart of this national park, flows through an area of about 24 km long

History of Rajaji Park :-

Before 1983, three sanctuaries Rajaji, Motichoor and Chilla were in the forests spread in this National Park area.
In 1983, by merging these three sanctuaries, it was declared as Rajaji National Park.
This national park was named Rajaji National Park after India ‘s great freedom fighter Chakravarti Rajagopalachari .

Rajaji Park was declared as a tiger reserve under the Tiger Project of India on 15 April 2015. Rajaji National Park is the second tiger reserve in the state of Uttarakhand after Jim Corbett National Park. Presently Rajaji National Park is a major national park of India. and tiger reserve

Wildlife Found in Rajaji Park :-

Rajaji National Park is a natural habitat for wildlife, many types of endangered and beautiful wildlife species reside in this national park.
Wildlife census was done in the year 2015-16 in Rajaji National Park, according to this census there are 34 tigers and 5 cubs in this national park, apart from tigers, this national park is also a major center of attraction for the elephants found here.

The dense forests here also provide an equally favorable environment for birds, as the Rajaji Park is full of mammal wildlife. About 315 species of permanent and migratory birds are found in the national park. The birds found in this national park are mainly Vulture, Woodpecker, Kingfisher, Pheasant, Peafowl, Barbet Crested Kingfisher, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Great Pied Hornbill, Oriental Birds such as Pied Hornbill, Spotted Forquetail, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, Lesser Racket-tailed Drongo, Pied Kingfisher, Crimson Sunbird and Fire-tailed Sunbird are included.

Flora found in Rajaji National Park :-

Rajaji Park Along with a favorable natural habitat for wildlife, this national park is a center of attraction for many types of trees and endangered flora, many types of medicinal plants and many species of flora are found in the national park.

The forest range of this national park is famous for its tropical and sub-tropical vegetation. On both sides of the Ganges river flowing in the middle of this national park, beautiful flowering trees like deciduous bodleaf, kachnar, lantana, sandon, kedia, acacia, and cheela are seen, besides the trees found here include plum, peepal, ficus. , Adina, Shoria, Bel, and Chamar trees.

The Rajaji Park is very dense in terms of vegetation. The large pine trees found in these national parks  give it a different beauty. Apart from this, this national park consists of large grasslands, deciduous forest area which is the center of natural habitat for the wildlife living here. The flora found in this national park includes Rohini, Amaltas, Shisham, Sal, Palash, Arjun, Kachnar, Bas, Semul, Chamor, Ber, Chilla, Bel etc.

How to reach Rajaji by Bus?

If you want to go to this park by bus, then you can come to Virbhadra (15 km.) Haridwar or Rishikesh bus stand and from there you will get taxi facility to go to Rajaji Park but you can go to Haridwar or Rishikesh. Try to reach the bus stand itself, which is directly connected to the major cities of the country by road.
