Daat kali Mandir Dehradun is a famous temple of Hindus, which is located on Saharanpur Dehradun Highway Road. Daat Kali Mandir is one of the famous temples of Dehradun and is situated at a distance of 14 km from Dehradun. This temple is dedicated to Maa Kali, hence the temple is also called the temple of Kali and Kali Mata is considered to be a part of “Goddess Sati”, the wife of Lord Shiva. Maa Dat Kali Temple is also known as “Manokamna Siddhapeeth” and “Kali Mandir” It is believed that Maa Kali came in the dream of an engineer, who gave the idol of Goddess Kali to Mahant Sukhbir Gusain to establish the temple. There is also a unique story behind the construction of the temple. It is said that when the British were coming to the Doon Valley, they needed to build a tunnel to enter here. The British started making tunnels here, during which the laborers got the idol of Maa Kali from here while digging. When the British were getting the tunnel construction work done after the statue was removed, this work could not progress further. In fact, when the laborers used to go to sleep after digging the whole day, in the morning they used to get that work incomplete again. Overall, there were constant hurdles in the work. 

It is believed that one night Maa Kali appeared in a dream to an English engineer and asked him to build a temple. After this a temple was built near the tunnel and the idol of Maa Kali was established there. Then somewhere a tunnel could be made. Tunnel in Garhwali language is called Dat. This is the reason why this temple got its name Dat Kali. Even today, while starting a new work or after buying a new vehicle, devotees definitely come to see Maa Dat Kali. Various programs are organized here on the occasion of Navratri. The temple of Maa Daat kali is considered to be a part of Goddess Sati, the consort of Lord Shiva. As miraculous as this temple is, the beliefs associated with this temple are equally unique. The temple was built on 13 June 1804, that is, this temple is more than two hundred years old.

Daat Kali Mandir is also known as Kali Mandir and Manokamna Siddhapeeth. It is believed that the temple was built in the 13th century in 1804, then it is said that the idol which is installed in the temple today was in the dream of an engineer. Located on the Dehradun and Saharanpur border, this temple is crowded with devotees every day, but on Saturday, there is a special significance of offering red flowers, red chunari and coconut to Maa Daat kali. 

It is said that by doing this all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled. On Saturdays including Tuesdays and Thursdays, the devotees of the mother organize a huge Bhandara in the Maa Daat kali temple. Whenever a person takes a new vehicle, he first reaches the court of the mother for special worship with the vehicle.

It is said that the mother’s chunari in her vehicle always protects the vehicle and the driver. This is the reason why new vehicles are often seen queuing near the temple. Mahant Raman Prasad Goswami of Maa Daat kali Temple says that Maa Dat Kali is the Ishta Devi of West Uttar Pradesh including Uttarakhand. Every day hundreds of devotees reach the temple to see the mother and the mother fulfills everyone’s wishes. The story of the construction of the temple is also very amazing. 

It is said that in the year 1804, the working organization engaged in the construction of the road on the Dehradun-Delhi highway was building the tunnel. But the number of tunnels the company digs in a day, So the same tunnel used to break at night. This got him upset. Earlier Maa Dat Kali was known as Maa Ghathewali. It is said that Maa Ghathewali had come in the dream of the ancestors of the Mahant and talked about the installation of his idol at the tunnel construction site. The executive body did the same.
